Oatmeal crust fried shisamo fish
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Quaker instant oatmeal
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 egg
  • 12-15 shisamo fishes depending on sizes
  • 5 tbsp plain flour for coating
  • salt and pepper to taste
Procedure
  1. Use food processor to blend the oatmeal into finer texture (like bread crumbs). This step is optional.
  2. Fishes should be thawed and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk egg and water.
  4. Coat fishes with flour. 
  5. Coat fishes in egg mixture.
  6. Coat fishes with oatmeal crumbs.
  7. Heat the oil to medium high.
  8. Fry fishes in batches in hot oil (medium-high) until golden colour.

This recipe will work for all fried recipe which calls for breadcrumbs.. replace breadcrumbs with oatmeal for healthier option! You can remake the crust for mushrooms, cauliflower or other protein! Enjoy the fragrance and crunchy oatmeal crust!!
